S8 TIGER Series 3

Some of my favorite projects are when I get to work together with Scene Factory and Bruker, to break down a complicated concept an package it in a clear, easy to explain and visually pleasing way. Not only because it's a great opportunity to create interesting work, but because I get learn about really niche concepts that I'd otherwise never even hear of.

On this occasion, it was all about the S8 TIGER Series 3, a WD-XRF Spectrometer (see, I didn't know what was until a few months ago) with a series a revolutionary features in sample analysis. To highlight some of them, we produced a series of videos focused on different aspects of the device, each with its own challenges. On top of that, to make everything clear, we had to come up a simple but interesting look, easy to read and follow, which could disregard all of the superfluous parts (for the videos, anyway) while staying true to how the spectrometer works.

Here's how we did it:

AI EasyLoad Camera System

The S8 TIGER Series 3 features a camera with a built in AI, which quickly determines how to prepare the device based on the type of sample that's loaded into it. To make this work, the camera view was achieved through a mix of 2D and 3D graphics, matching the 3D space inside of After Effects, plus some simple effects and classic text animation.

Multi-Element Channel

With the Multi-Element Channel, the S8 TIGER can quickly determine all the elements that make up a sample, expected or otherwise, to get a broad view of it when time is of the essence. This one was all about keeping the story clear, while moving across different parts of the device.

Single-Element Channel

Finally, the Single-Element Channel can hyper-focus on a single element to determine exactly how much of it is in the sample. To get this across, we had to create a system in Cinema 4D that would break up the glass into different components, each with a different look and destination, but all starting out as a single object.
